“Rafiq” answers parents in Algerian darja, beside an interactive centre plan
This website was built through the Mustashar Nonprofit Initiative.

Al-Nidaa's website in Annaba brings together a practical parents' guide, “Rafiq”, an assistant that answers in Algerian darja by text or voice, and an interactive plan of the upcoming psycho-educational centre. A staff dashboard lets the team follow children's pre-registrations and publish its own news. The site was gifted as part of Mustashar's non-profit initiative.
The need
A wilaya-level association approved in 2020, Al-Nidaa is preparing to open its headquarters: a psycho-educational centre for children with disabilities, supervised by the Directorate of Social Action. It needed an online presence that gives parents reliable information in their everyday language, presents the centre to donors and gathers children's registration requests in one place.
What we built
We designed a 19-page Arabic site built around the family: a six-page parents' guide, tools whose data never leaves the user's device, and accessibility options. We developed “Rafiq”, a free assistant that searches 184 answers written in darja right in the browser, takes spoken questions and points to the Civil Protection number 14 in emergencies, with an optional free AI layer through Gemini. The architect's drawing became an interactive plan of 13 spaces, each listing the equipment donors can fund. A PHP back office handles registrations, messages, posts and Rafiq itself.
What sets this website apart?
Rafiq speaks darja
It understands darja, Arabic, French and Arabizi, answers from 184 ready-made topics and remembers the child's age and disability during the chat.
Ask by voice
Parents simply say their question in darja or French using the browser's speech recognition, and get a written answer.
Emergency detection
Rafiq spots words such as seizure, choking or fainting and instantly shows a button to call the Civil Protection on 14.
Interactive centre plan
A 26 × 16 m plan of 13 spaces; each room shows its purpose and the equipment donors can sponsor.
Parents' guide
Six pages – autism, intellectual, hearing, visual and motor disabilities, family and daily life – in practical Q&A form.
Tools for families
A visual schedule, a talking communication board and a seizure and behaviour log with Excel export and a print view for the doctor, all kept on the device.
Accessibility
Larger text, high contrast, highlighted links, comfortable spacing, motion off and read-aloud for every page.
Online pre-registration
A form collects disability type, diagnosis, schooling, requested services and commune, then gives parents a registration number.
Photo and video posts
The association posts from its phone: photos are compressed before upload, videos go up in chunks or as YouTube and Facebook links, and each post can be placed on chosen pages.
Full control, no technical skills needed
- Pre-registrations with statistics by disability, age, commune and service, and a status flow from “new” to “enrolled”
- One inbox for contact, volunteering, partnership and donation pledges
- Post editor with photo and video upload, page placement, pinning and a site-wide announcement bar
- Rafiq management: unanswered questions (phone numbers and e-mails redacted), the association's own answers, top topics and parents' ratings
- Optional AI layer settings: free Gemini key, model and daily cap, with a test button
- Excel (CSV) export, lockout after 6 failed log-ins and password change
